Queen’s Landing is located on Kent Island in Queen Anne’s County on the Eastern Shore
Kent Island is known as the Gateway to Maryland’s Eastern Shore where you will find not only endless acres of farmlands with delicious produce, but Maryland’s finest and most beautiful beaches. Ocean City, Maryland at the eastern most point is best known for its family entertainment and beach boardwalk.
Many homeowners at Queen’s Landing commute to Annapolis, Washington DC and/or Baltimore on a daily basis for work. There is a commuter bus system available via the MTA System along US 50/301. Living at Queen’s Landing, one can reach DC in as little as 45 minutes which makes visiting our nation’s capital an easy trip to the west whereas a 2 hour drive to the east brings you to the expansive shores of Maryland beaches and the Assateague Island State Park where the beautiful wild horses run freely.
The Chesapeake Bay Bridge connects Kent Island to the historic capital city, Annapolis, to the west. The island stretches approximately 5 miles wide, was founded August of 1631 as the first English Settlement within Maryland. Kent Island is the largest island in the Chesapeake Bay, connecting with the greater Eastern Shore via the Kent Narrows Bridge to its east.
Homeowners in Queen’s Landing enjoy temperatures ranging from an average of 86 degrees in July to a low of 30 degrees in January. Beautiful warm sunny days are common on Kent Island whereas harsh cold winter days are possible but less than common. Annual average snowfall is 9-13”
Cross Island Trail
Queen’s Landing sits in the midst of the Cross Island Trail which is a walking and biking trail that stretches across Kent Island. The Cross Island Trail is part of the Queen Anne’s County portion of the American Discovery Trail which was completed in 2001. The American Discovery Trail is a system of trails and roads which form a coast-to-coast hiking and biking trail across the U.S. from Maryland’s Eastern Shore to the northern California coast on the Pacific Ocean.
Municipal and Community Services
Municipal services readily available to Queen’s Landing homeowners include a newly upgraded Fire Station that encompasses a full fleet of EMS vehicles. Kent Island library, just a stone’s throw from our community, provides outreach services to all age groups. We have a new healthcare satellite facility only 1 mile away which is a part of the Anne Arundel Medical Center Healthcare System based in Annapolis. Within 7 miles there is a new Emergency Room located at the Shore Medical facility in Queenstown, MD, which is connected to the University of Maryland Healthcare System. There are several elementary and middle schools with a regional high school that provides a wide variety of sports, musical and art studies. Kent Island has 2 active Senior Centers that provide some housing as well as daily activities and transportation services for seniors and others who qualify. There are also many civic groups who focus on preserving the historic value of Kent Island’s land and waterways.
