Hello Queens Landing Residents!
The Landscape Committee is seeking committee volunteers, and we welcome owners and renters in the community who have an interest helping maintain and improve this beautiful community we all live in.
The committee has made substantial progress over the past 5 years and we thank those that have been a part of that progress. The committee is fortunate to have retained some of our critical volunteers that helped make this committee so effective but we now find ourselves in the position of needing new members, too. Here is a preview of what is in store for the next Committee year:
- In January start to develop our Request for Proposal for our Landscape Management contract which is in its final third year.
- Establish a Spring through Fall rotating volunteer program for watering the potted plants at the clubhouse front entrance and the planters around the pool.
- Identify areas on the property with the greatest need for maintenance and/or enhancement.
- Using the approved plant list and the several approved landscape architectural renderings, develop designs to improve areas identified as needing enhancement. The goal is to utilize the different guidelines to create a cohesive look throughout while avoiding the “cookie cutter” look of many communities. These designs, once approved, will then be provided for quote and Installation by licensed approved contractors.
- Identify trees around the property that are showing signs of stress. Qualified contractors are then requested to look at these trees and make a final determination as to whether the tree can be saved or should be removed and if replacement of the tree is best in the same or different location as allowed by county requirements.
- Prepare budget numbers to submit to the Budget & Finance Committee to ensure the 2025 landscape budget is properly funded to achieve Board approved goals.
This committee is highly collaborative with all recommended actions done by committee vote which will then be presented to the Maintenance Committee by the Landscape Committee Chair for final approval. We welcome new and fresh perspectives.
