March 2024 Board Recap
The Board met Monday, March 18 at 7:00, with about 15 homeowners attending.
RESERVE STUDY
The first order of business was to address the 2024 Reserve Study conducted by Miller+Dodson. This important study looks at the current and future financial health of Queen’s Landing. In short, it reviews our physical assets, their expected lifespan, and the cost of maintaining them. This is extremely important for all condo associations, so that they can project expenses and manage them so as to avoid special assessments. Craig Amaral, an analyst with Miller+Dodson, walked us through the information, and the Board voted unanimously to accept the study as presented. The next study will be done in five years.
WE’RE HAVING FUN!
The Community has enjoyed several activities this year, most recently the St. Patrick’s Day party on March 16. The food and decorations were awesome! Stay tuned for information on a Book and Puzzle Swap April 12 (bring a beverage and food to share) and a Memorial Day Pool Party. The Social Committee is even talking about another Cardboard Boat Regatta and a Crab Feast!
LOOKING FOR BOARD MEMBERS!
This year has been a bit different than in years past in terms of Board Members—we have more new members than ever before! I have to say that it is extremely rewarding, and a great way to get to know your neighbors and have a positive impact on our beautiful community. There will be SIX OPENINGS this fall—we strongly encourage you to consider running!
POOL, BRIDGE, PICKLEBALL/TENNIS COURT PROJECTS
The Long-Range Planning Committee is embarking on planning for the pool deck, the pickleball/tennis courts, and the lake bridge. We are looking for community volunteers who want to have an impact on these projects. Please contact Peggy Young at [email protected].
The pool will be resurfaced before it opens on May 15. There is structural work to be done as well, which will be done after the pool season. Please consider joining the LRPC to share your ideas!
DECKS AND BALCONIES
The Board agreed to engage a balcony/deck inspection engineer from IIS. Stay tuned for a timeline and more information.
NEXT BOARD MEETING
The next Board Meeting will be held April 15, 2024, at 7 pm. This meeting will include a presentation by Morgan Stanley, and a presentation from the Documentation Subcommittee on committee charters and titles. Please attend!
